Getting started

  1. Join the beta. WallPlay is invite-only for now. Sign up and we’ll email you access to the beta portal, where the Mac and Windows builds live.
  2. Install it on the computer connected to your screen. On a Mac, the beta is signed but not yet notarized, so the first time you open it, right-click (or Control-click) WallPlay in Applications, choose Open, then Open again. If there’s no Open button, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. On Windows, if SmartScreen appears, choose More info → Run anyway.
  3. Put the wall on the right screen. With a TV or second monitor connected, send the wall to that display and make it full screen.
  4. Feed it. Search from the console, paste a link, or open a site in the built-in browser and send what’s playing to a feed.
  5. Direct it. Queue what plays next on each feed, solo the one you want to hear, and pick up your phone.

Feeds with nothing to play show an off-air screen labelled with their number, like the tiles on the home wall. That’s normal: drop something in that feed’s queue and it goes live.

Phone remote

Your phone can run the whole wall, and there’s no app to install: the remote opens in your phone’s browser.

  1. Connect your phone to the same network as the computer running WallPlay.
  2. Show the QR code in WallPlay and scan it with your phone’s camera.
  3. Tap the link. You’ll see every feed and can play, pause, skip, queue and solo audio.

Anyone else on the network can scan the same code and help run the wall.

The remote won’t connect

  • Check both devices are on the same network. Guest networks and “client isolation” settings keep devices from seeing each other.
  • Turn off VPNs on the phone and the computer while you test.
  • On Mac, if macOS asks whether WallPlay may find devices on your local network or accept incoming connections, allow it (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network).
  • On Windows, allow WallPlay through Windows Defender Firewall on private networks.

Signing in to sites

Some sources only play, or play in better quality, when you’re signed in. Sign in once in WallPlay’s built-in browser, the same way you would anywhere else.

WallPlay can save those logins and sign you back in automatically when a session expires, so a feed doesn’t stall on a login page.

  • On Mac, saved logins are kept in the macOS Keychain. If macOS asks to let WallPlay use it, choose Always Allow.
  • You can remove a saved login from WallPlay at any time. On Mac you can also delete it in the Keychain Access app.
  • If a site asks for a code (two-factor), finish signing in yourself and WallPlay carries on.

Layouts & 16-up

The wall has four tiles, and each tile can be split into panes, which gets you up to sixteen feeds at once. Each feed keeps its own queue and its own audio.

One-tap preset layouts are on the way: 1, 2, 4, 1+3, 6, 1+7, 9 and 16. You can try most of them on the home wall with the switcher at the top, or keys 1–6.

  • Sixteen live feeds use a lot of bandwidth and graphics power. If things stutter, drop a few panes or choose lower quality for the small ones.
  • Quit whenever you like. WallPlay remembers what every feed was playing and where it was.

Troubleshooting

No sound, or the wrong sound

  • Check which feed is soloed: only that one plays audio.
  • Make sure the computer’s sound output is the TV or your speakers (Mac: System Settings → Sound → Output; Windows: the speaker icon in the taskbar).
  • Some sites start muted until you interact. Unmute that feed from the console or the remote.

A feed won’t play

  • Open the same link in the built-in browser and look at what the site shows. It may want you to sign in, accept cookies or confirm your age.
  • Live streams end. If a channel has gone offline, the feed has nothing to show.
  • Some content is limited by region or by the site itself.
  • Still stuck? Tell us which site at hello@wallplay.tv.

Display setup

  • Wall on the wrong screen: send the wall to the TV and make it full screen there.
  • Edges cut off on a TV: turn off overscan in the TV’s picture settings (often called “Just Scan”, “Screen Fit” or “1:1”).
  • Blurry picture: set the computer to the TV’s native resolution.
  • Screen goes to sleep: adjust sleep and screen-saver settings so the display stays on while the wall runs.

FAQ

How do I get WallPlay?

It’s an invite-only beta for Mac and Windows. Join the beta and we’ll email you access to the beta portal.

What happened to WallFeeder?

Same control room, new name. Old wallfeeder.com links bring you here.

Do I need an app on my phone?

No. Scan the QR code and the remote opens in your phone’s browser.

Does WallPlay pick what I watch?

No. There’s no algorithm deciding what’s on your wall. Nothing plays unless you put it there.

Which sites does it work with?

The built-in sources are listed on the Sources tile, and you can open any website in the built-in browser. 18+ sources are off by default and can be turned on in Settings.

Where are my passwords stored?

On Mac, saved site logins live in the macOS Keychain on your computer.

How do updates work?

Beta testers get new builds through the beta portal. The changelog lists what changed.
